Frank Tang ’94 of Temasek Holdings — one of the largest overseas investors in China — returned to the School on May 10 as the fourth speaker in the Sir Gordon Wu Distinguished Speaker Forum.

More than 800 business leaders and alumni from around the world gathered at the Waldorf-Astoria on Monday night for the 31st Annual Dinner, which raised $3 million — one of the highest totals ever — for the School’s programs and initiatives.

Thanks to a generous gift from Russ Carson ’67 and the Carson Family Charitable Trust, the School will collaborate with nationally acclaimed education nonprofit Harlem Children’s Zone.

Professor Chris Mayer presented an overview of real estate valuations to the Real Estate Roundtable in Washington, DC on April 26th.The Real Estate Roundtable is an organization that "brings together leaders of the nation's top public and privately-held real estate ownership, development, lending and management firms with the leaders of major national real estate trade associations to jointly addresskey national policy issues relating to real estate and the overall economy."

On Saturday, March 3, twenty-five Real Estate students participating in the Chazen Real Estate International Study Tour to Brazil and Argentina touched down in São Paulo, a sprawling megalopolis with a population nearly twice that of New York City (and traffic to match). Accompanied by Faculty Advisor Professor Chris Mayer and Director of Administration Cheryl Carruthers, the group spent five days experiencing Brazil and Argentina, South America’s largest countries and two places in which real estate is currently one of the hottest industries.

“Hidden biases can influence hiring and promotion decisions, employee reviews and other managerial tasks,” Professor Elke Weber told students during a discussion on unconscious bias and its role in decision making as part of the School’s inaugural Leadership and Ethics Week.

Eugene Lang MS ’40 — who helped launch the entrepreneurship center at the School named in his honor — was a special guest at a panel discussion led by alumni entrepreneurs.

On Thursday, March 15, 2007, CJEB and the Japan Business Association of Columbia Business School presented "Resurgence of the Japanese Economy: A Conversation with Takehiko Nakao."
