The Paul Milstein Center for Real Estate and the Real Estate Circle of Columbia Business School hosted the second annual Real Estate Symposium and annual Real Estate Alumni Reception for Columbia Business School Alumni on Thursday, November 12, 2009 at the Asia Society in New York.
Robert Amen ’73, the retired chairman and CEO of International Flavors and Fragrances, and Frank Zarb, chairman of Frank Zarb Associates, have joined Columbia Business School’s Executives in Residence Program.
Two new real estate elective courses will be offered in the Spring 2010 semester – Real Estate Development and Real Estate M&A and Restructuring Deal Workshop. Additionally, Real Estate Fundamentals, taught by Executive in Residence M. Leanne Lachman, will be offered in Summer 2010. This course offers January start students the opportunity to take a real estate elective course during their second term.
DRO PhD student Denis Saure won first place in the INFORMS Manufacturing and Service Operations Management Society (MSOM) Student Paper Competition, for his paper, "Optimal Dynamic Assortment Planning," co-authored by Professor Assaf Zeevi.
Based on a conceptual framework that incorporates academic research on the economic impact of ICTs, the study has been conceived as a contribution to dialogue between governments, private sector and civil society in the region.

The speakers are Professors Heizo Takenaka of Keio University, Patrick Bolton of Columbia Business School, and Takatoshi Ito of The University of Tokyo. The conference will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. in Uris #301at the Columbia Business School, followed by a reception until 8:30 p.m.
